Largest school district in North Carolina adopts netTrekker to provide high-quality digital content to teachers and students

Cincinnati, OHJune 18, 2014 – Knovation, the leader in advanced personalized learning solutions, announces Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) in North Carolina will implement the industry-leading digital learning resource library, netTrekker in all K-8 schools. As the largest public school district in the state and the sixteenth largest in the country, WCPSS partnered with Knovation to offer educator-curated digital content to more than 100,000 students across 137 elementary and middle schools.

Dedicated to providing reliable, standards-aligned resources for its teachers and students, WCPSS was looking for a safe solution for finding and curating content, that also offered literacy support through dictionary and translation services, readability indexes and read aloud text-to-speech support. With netTrekker, the district will have access to multiple types of digital resources to meet the needs of its diverse student population with seven main languages spoken across its schools.

“Our goal is to arm our teachers with resources that will help them personalize instruction and allow them to work smarter, not harder,” said Marlo Gaddis, director of instructional technology and library media services at WCPSS. “As we transition to a digital learning environment, netTrekker will become our go-to resource for finding quality digital content that is aligned to Common Core and state standards.”

Purchased through the North Carolina Digital Learning Grant, netTrekker’s certified digital content will integrate with the district’s established curriculum to provide teachers with the flexibility to use their expertise in building and delivering standards-based lessons. Access to digital content is one of the first steps in the district’s digital conversion, with a few schools deploying 1:1 initiatives and preparations for state efforts to shift all textbook funding to a solely digital model by 2017.

With more than 360,000 educator-curated digital resources aligned to state and Common Core Sate Standards, netTrekker is the leading digital content solution for districts implementing a blended learning model. netTrekker enables teachers and students to instantly find resources they need for in-class instruction, homework and research. The tool also supports personalized learning by allowing users to easily identify content by academic or reading level, subject, language or theme.

“Wake County Public School System is one of a growing number of large school districts nationwide implementing netTrekker for their digital content needs,” said Joe Grieshop, president and managing officer at Knovation. “We are committed to partnering with the district on its digital conversion, and ensuring a successful adoption through our company’s professional support tools and flexible implementation services.”

WCPSS joins several of the country’s largest school districts already utilizing netTrekker, including the School District of Palm Beach County, Houston Independent School District, Orange County Public Schools and Baltimore County Public Schools.
