Understanding UDL from the Dark Side: Perceptions of the Marketplace

The Universal Design for Learning Implementation and Research Network (UDL-IRN) held its 2015 Summit recently at the Gulf Park campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. The Summit had an exceptionally engaging lineup of “UDL-Talks” and breakout sessions that shared insights and collaboration ideas regarding the current and future state of UDL in K20. At times, academic researchers get nervous about EdTech Vendors misrepresenting UDL in the marketplace. Straight A Fund Grant supports district-wide transformation to digital resources

Ross Local School District We are pleased to announce that Ross Local School District in Ohio has selected Knovation’s learning engagement solution, icurio, as a key component of its 1:1 Personalized Learning Initiative. The district’s 1:1 Personalized Learning Initiative began earlier this year to transform learning for 2,845 students across its four schools. The initiative provides every student in grades 5-12 a Chromebook laptop to promote personalized learning and 21st century skills. CodeMonkey: Learn Real Coding

CodeMonkey is a wonderful and engaging site for children to learn basic programming skills. It is based on the language CoffeeScript, which compiles to JavaScript. It begins with very easy exercises and gets progressively harder, building on what students are learning. Students are required to plan a route in order to pick up bananas as they go. Barriers are placed in the path, and sometimes they must climb onto a turtle in order to travel on water. They learn how to write loops and work with variables. Kentucky Valley Educational Consortium We are pleased to announce that Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative (KVEC), a non-profit educational support agency comprised of 19 LEAs that provide services to member district schools in Eastern Kentucky, has selected Knovation to support and guide its conversion to digital content. Beginning this month, KVEC will use the learning engagement solution, icurio, to foster modern, digital learning initiatives across multiple school districts.
